At WOWVITA, we believe that healing happens not just through natural wellness products, but also through community, creativity, and connection with nature. On Saturday 26th July, our sister company WOW Worthy Women had the privilege of spending a truly heartwarming day with a group of inspiring women from Women’s Aid, who are part of a support group for survivors of domestic abuse.
The setting was the beautiful Oaks Girl Guides Camp in Nettleton, nestled in the rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds—a peaceful sanctuary where these courageous women could step away from their daily stresses and reconnect with themselves and the natural world around them.
A Day of Discovery with Medical Herbalist Ali English
We were joined by Ali English, a qualified medical herbalist, who guided us on a gentle and fascinating foraging walk. Together, we explored the plants and herbs growing all around us—those we often pass by without a second thought—and learned about their powerful healing properties.
From ground ivy, plantain, and dandelions, to nettles, hazel, oak, and elderberry trees, Ali helped us see nature in a new light. The women were especially curious and engaged, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their own stories as Ali explained how these plants could offer natural support for hay fever, wasp stings, aches and pains, and even common colds.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. For many, this was a rare opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel a sense of empowerment from learning something practical and nurturing.
Ongoing Creative Healing Sessions with Women’s Aid
This magical day in nature is part of a wider initiative that WOW Worthy Women CIC runs in collaboration with Women’s Aid. Every month, we facilitate wellbeing sessions designed to inspire, soothe, and support the emotional recovery of women who have experienced domestic abuse.
These sessions include a wide variety of creative and holistic activities:
- Festive wreath making
- Needle felting workshops
- Creating natural bath and body products
- Relaxation sessions such as reiki, guided visualisations, and mindfulness practices
Each session is crafted with care to provide not only a welcome distraction, but also a meaningful opportunity for growth, self-expression, and confidence building.
One particularly moving success story comes from a woman who discovered a deep passion for needle felting during one of our workshops. Having never tried it before, she fell in love with the process and has since gone on to teach needle felting to others—a beautiful reminder of how creativity can plant the seeds of new beginnings.
The Power of Community & Natural Healing
Supporting our sister company WOW Worthy Women, our mission goes beyond products—we’re building a community that uplifts and empowers women, especially during and after difficult life transitions like menopause or recovery from abuse. Nature, creativity, and compassionate support are at the heart of what we do.
WOW Worthy Women’s work with Women’s Aid continues to show us the profound impact that safe spaces, shared experiences, and simple joys can have. Whether it’s walking through the woods, making something with your hands, or simply being heard—every moment counts.
If you’d like to support our community work, collaborate with us, or learn more about our events and products, please reach out or follow us on social media. Together, we can make wellness and hope accessible to every woman who needs it.
